My Grandma, Rachel Smith, died this morning. She was 96. I’m going to miss her.
My older sister Caitlin is on the right.
My Grandma fell and broke her leg a couple days before Christmas. It was a compound fracture (if you don’t know what that is don’t google it). Caitlin was working in the ER in Sacramento when she came in and set her bone. She was in hospice care in Davis for the last 3 months and I got to visit her last night. She died this morning at 9:30am with my father beside her. Her last words were “I love you too”.
We are going to scatter her ashes with my grandfather’s on Mount Shasta in Northern California where she grew up.
It’s 3:15am I really hope I don’t have to work tomorrow. I could really use the day off…
A couple hours ago I was robbed at gun point after meeting someone off of craigslist to buy an iPhone.
Someone who’s name may or may not be Ron, met me with his friend in the parking lot outside of a Pet Supply store in a mall in South Sacramento off of Florin Road. They got in my car and we started talking about the two iPhones they had. I originally offered to buy them both for $300 but when I went to the bank on my way to meet them I could only take out $200.
I text messaged the guy where I was waiting in the parking lot and what car I was in. When he shows up he has a friend with him, I let them both get in my car. One guy gets in the front seat beside me, the other guy sits in the back behind me.
After I take a look at both of the phones and saw they were the iPhone 4 not the iPhone 4S that I was looking for, and 8GBs instead of 16GBs, I asked the guy in the front seat if he would still sell them both to me for $200. I handed him $200 and we discuss the price and he starts to erase his photos on the phone when his friend sitting behind me pulls out a gun and presses it against my throat from the back seat.
As soon as he does that the guy in the front seat jumps out of the car and starts running away with my money, and I’m sitting in the front seat with a gun to my throat trying not to make any sudden moves. The guy holding the gun asks me if I have anymore money, he tells me if I hadn’t tried to negotiate this wouldn’t have happened, I tell him I don’t have anymore money, he threatens me, he asks for more money again and I tell him I don’t have any, and then I tell him to get out of my car.
I tell him a couple more times to get out of my car until he does, and he runs out of the parking lot across Florin Road, while I shout at cars near by that he has a gun and he just robbed me at gun point. Two cars follow him and his friend across the street while I called the cops.
They ended up catching the guy who was in the front seat of my car in a house down the end of the street they ran down, and they caught the second guy with the gun a few blocks away. I identified both of them and as far as I know they are in jail right now.
Feeling very lucky nothing else happened and I was not hurt.

Definitely calling it an early night tonight. I just remembered I got 5 hrs sleep last night but was super rested this morning… Not anymore.
I was hella tired after chopping firewood and cleaning up my backyard, I just wanted to go to sleep. Really glad I went to Davis though.
My cousin Rachel came to visit my Grandmother this weekend who is basically on her death bed. She’s my cousin on my father’s side from his brother’s first marriage. She’s half native american and works for the nation forestry college with her husband Eric in Montana. I get to see her once a year at christmas or thanksgiving time if I’m lucky, last thanks giving we actually did a web chat dinner because they couldn’t fly out. We set up a laptop at the end of the table and had a telecommute-thanksgiving, it was fun.
I also heard another demo CD from my sister Megan… Her and Sam go by Misner & Smith and they are working on their first studio album right now after raising 24,000 dollars this summer. And to be completely honest it sounds AMAZING. This is the second time I’ve heard what they are working on and I want to buy a copy already, I didn’t think it would be as good as it is. They only have a few more days of recording left in their budget and it’s almost done. Then they send it to critics and radio stations to review it before they release it.
Anyway, it was really good to see Rachel and Caitlin and Megan and Sam and my Mom and Dad, and eat a really good home cooked meal.
