I just lost $50 and almost lost $600 buying an iMac on craigslist.
There was a listing on craigslist in sacramento for a really nice 27” iMac for $600 it was such a good deal I couldn’t pass it up.
When I talked to the person selling it she said she had just moved to Canada but would still ship it thru a third party called interparcel.
You send interparcel the money and they ship the item you bought from the seller. So I had to wire money to their “agent” who was in the UK for some reason… This is when I knew something was fishy and should have just called the whole thing off, but the interparcel site looked legit.
It wasn’t until after I sent the money that I googled interparcel and the name of the person who was selling the iMac and saw a bunch of complaints about simmilar scams
I ran back to Western Union and canceled the transfer. I managed not to lose the $600 but I still had to pay the $50 transfer fee.
Wasting time and money, and being lied to are definitly three of my least favorite things.
